BBB Recognizes Marietta-based Sellier Design For Its Community Service
The Better Business Bureau Serving Metro Atlanta, Athens & Northeast Georgia proudly announced that it has awarded Sellier Design First Runner Up in the Community Service category at its 2009 Torch Awards. The Marietta-based graphic and web design firm was singled out for the numerous donations and contributions that the company makes to area charities and non-profit organizations.
Each year, the BBB honors companies of excellence and integrity at its Torch Award Luncheon. The purpose of the annual Torch Awards is to highlight BBB accredited companies that have distinguished themselves in Community Service, Marketplace Ethics or Customer Service. Companies are judged in four size categories by individuals outside of the BBB of Metro Atlanta who have a particular interest in ethics in the marketplace.
Sellier Design placed First Runner Up in Community Service category I for those companies that have fewer than ten employees. Emerald Data Networks, Inc. was the Community Service category I winner.
"It's very nice to get recognition from a respected organization like the Better Business Bureau," acknowledges Kriston Sellier, Sellier Design's President and Creative Director. "What I am most proud of though, is having a staff of professionals who are all active in finding ways we can, collectively and individually, lend a hand to neighbors who could use a little help."
The Torch Award judges were particularly impressed by the time, energy and expertise that Sellier Design invested in the pro bono work for Cobb Christmas, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping low-income families of Cobb County during the holiday season. Sellier Design redesigned their existing website, purchased new photography and programmed the new website all at no cost. The Sellier team also donated 10 stockings full of toys to the annual toy drive.
Sellier Design's Marketing Coordinator, Richard Castelo, sees the logic in applying the company's specific talents to local causes. "We feel that it is very important to give back to the community that we live and do business in through the donation of time and money, but also through our unique capabilities as designers." Kriston Sellier adds that the Cobb Christmas project was a great example of how everyone can utilize their own skill sets to give back. "Cobb Christmas gives such a high percentage of its donations to the people who really need it. The significant funds that would normally have to be diverted to the creation of a website, can go directly to providing holiday food and gifts to children who would otherwise go without."

Sellier Design Salutes Freshėns' Green Initiatives
Two of the eight American Graphic Design & Advertising awards that Sellier Design took home tonight were for work that defined the significant efforts being made by their client Freshėns Quality Brands to protect the environment by launching a sustainability initiative christened It's In Our Nature.
Since mid 2008, Sellier Design has aided the yogurt and smoothies company through logo, print and t-shirt design to get the word out about how they are and other companies can incorporate eco-friendly practices into their business.
The AGDA 25 awards won were specifically for Sellier Design's creation of Freshėns' It's In Our Nature logo and brochure and wearable design on Freshėns' 100% organic cotton t-shirts.
Kriston Sellier, Sellier Design's President and Creative Director, said, "We are very proud to be awarded for work on behalf of Freshėns. We applaud their all-encompassing commitment to run an eco-friendly organization."
Freshėns has spent the last few years developing innovative products, sourcing eco-friendly vendors and implementing best practice methods to become more environmentally responsible. "Freshėns has chosen to make positive decisions to protect and preserve our planet for ourselves and future generations," said Freshėns Quality Brands President John Stern. Freshėns sees environmental protection as both a "moral obligation and a business imperative."
The It's In Our Nature initiative touches every aspect of running the 1200 store organization. It is being applied to architectural design, manufacturing, equipment, marketing and merchandising, global sourcing and corporate policies. In 2008, Freshėns introduced the first renewable, compostable paper cold cup in the United States. Dubbed the "ecotainer", the cups are the cornerstone of Freshėns sustainability initiative. The revolutionary ecotainer eliminates the need for polystyrene foam cups. The paperboard cups use a coating derived from plant sugars to make it liquid resistant. The trees used to make the paper come from a fiber-sourced system that is independently certified to adhere to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) guidelines for management and harvesting.
2008 also saw the launch of the Freshėns Foundation, for which Sellier designed the logo. The 501c(3) charity advocates wellness of self, community and environment through purposeful programs, partnerships and endeavors. The first recipient of "Fit For The Journey" funds was the Captain Planet Foundation, which supports hands-on environmental projects for children and youths.

Volunteer Spotlight: Sellier Design Kriston Sellier, owner
What activities does your company participate in to benefit Cobb Christmas?
Our company has stuffed and donated stockings in the past. We also developed a new Web site for Cobb Christmas this year.
How long have you been involved with Cobb Christmas? For the past two years.
Why did you get involved with Cobb Christmas? Having a business and living in Cobb County, I think it is important to help people locally. Cobb Christmas gives such a high percentage of its donations to the people who really need it. It is entirely volunteer run. So, everyone is dedicated for the right reasons.
What is your fondest Cobb Christmas memory? Hearing stories from other volunteers about how client families commented they would not have been able to provide holiday food and gifts for their children without the generosity of Cobb Christmas.
Why would you recommend others supporting Cobb Christmas? We live in a world of materialism and sometimes it's difficult to realize the importance of helping others. Life is about giving back what you have been given. I know what it is like to not be able to pay the rent and to work three jobs to pay the bills. There is nothing better than seeing someone smiling through tears. It's not about the stuff. It's about the intangible (the hope) that you can give someone by being selfless.

Sellier Design Chosen as a 2007 Best Small Company
Atlanta-based Firm Recognized by Working Mother Magazine
Atlanta, Ga. - Sellier Design, a graphic design firm focused on the strategic objectives of their clients, announced today that it has been nationally recognized in Working Mother magazine as one of the top 25 Best Small Companies to work for.
Only 25 companies in the US were recognized. The 2007 Best Small Companies, featured in the April edition of Working Mother, included companies that are "thriving as well as thrilling in their work/life ways." To qualify, companies must be owned by a working mother.
The firm was recognized twice in the magazine - for "wow" benefits such as Girls Night Out and flexible telecommute and maternity leave policies. "The number of employees at Sellier may be small, but flex usage is big," said Susan Gerstenzang, one of the authors of the article.
"I'm thrilled that we were not only recognized by Working Mother, but more importantly that Sellier Design wouldn't be where it is today without our loyal, creative employees," said Kriston Sellier, CEO of Sellier Design. "In fact, one of our employees, Julie Cofer, took the time to enter Sellier Design into this contest. That says a lot about our company and our people."
Sellier attributes the company's success to its ability to be creative, work efficiently and keep in close contact with clients. "Our goal at Sellier is to retain our employees and clients by delivering on our promises," added Sellier.
